Leading the way is Tricia Miller whose transformation from an enthusiastic young athlete to a powerful mentor represents the spirit of perseverance and commitment. She views coaching as a means of influencing young athletes' lives rather than simply winning sports, even with such a successful team. Miller's passion for field hockey began when she was in the seventh grade at Rye Neck Middle School in Rye, New York, and saw her older sister Cheryl dominate the game. "Cheryl really inspired me," she said . "I wanted to play the same position and wear the same number as her." By Arianna Campbell When thinking of the “college experience,” commuter life is not what comes to mind . “When I was a freshman, I just want ed to have the ‘college experience,’ and I feel like I was kind of in a way contributing to that saying , ‘ O h if I commute, I won’t have the college experience , ’ which definitely is not true , ” said Olivia Conner, Commuter Council President. Conner, a former on campus resident who is now commut ing has taken the mantle of Commuter Council President and hopes to make commuters feel just as part of the community as residents. According to Assistant Student Engagement Director Christina Puccio, Stonehill’s commuter population is one quarter of the student body. By Ryan LeClair Jennifer LeClair’s day on September 11 th , 2001, started normally. “I woke up to go to work, It was a nice sunny, beautiful clear skies day in September,” said LeClair, who lived in Watertown, Massachusetts a small town outside of Boston. Then everything changed. It was 8:46 in the morning on September 11 th , 2001, and LeClair was in a meeting at her Boylston Street office with her co-workers when a woman from New Jersey came in and said, “a plane just crashed into the world trade center.” LeClair and others in the meeting were shocked but didn’t know what had really happened. They continued with their meeting. Later another person came to say another plane had crashed into the Trade Center. The co-workers turned on the news channel to see what had happened.
